Answering the call of the Ministry of Finance, MRCB together with Khazanah Nasional and various other government-linked companies (GLCs) joined PINTAR. A three-year education programme that helps underprivileged children in primary schools improve their academic performance, PINTAR reaches out through school reward incentives, motivation and teambuilding activities.
MRCB’s participation under PINTAR includes sponsorship six primary schools - Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampong Jawa, Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Kramat & Sekolah Kebangsaan Bagan Jermal in Penang; Sekolah Kebangsaan Tebrau Bakar Batu in Johor; and Sekolah Kebangsaan La Salle I & Sekolah Kebangsaan La Salle II in Kuala Lumpur. This involvement has netted tremendous advantages to the schools. Due to educational support and skill-building, motivational courses, capacity and capability building, as well as resolving of social issues, PINTAR has helped record massive improvements in the results of Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) for these schools since 2006.
MRCB’s success in these two pilot exercises has led to more adoption in Brickfields, Butterworth and Johor for 2008. |
