The focus of this project is the environment rehabilitation and conservation at Teluk Tekek and Pulau Tioman. Erosion is a major problem at both sites, with river quality compromised, causing serious repercussions to local activities and livelihoods.
The Group’s participation is concentrated on efforts to help affected local communities. Included in the inventory of activities are rebuilding of damaged fishermen’s houses along the beach and assistance with boat repair works. Further attention is placed with rehabilitating the badly polluted river by adding breakwaters and rubbish traps to prevent pollution and waste materials from flowing into the South China Sea.
Of course, prevention is always better than cure. Saving and protecting the environment should come first with awareness on the importance of environment to our lives. Campaigns are underway to local understanding on issues of cleanliness, recycling and environmental preservation.

Started in 2004, this environment rehabilitation mission was the first of its kind in Malaysia and the Asian region. MRCB is proud to do its part in helping restore and preserve the physical and natural environment of this Pahang coastal beach, using an innovative system called Pressure Equalisation Module (PEM). Our efforts go a long way towards helping maintain the state’s reputation as a favoured tourism hotspot for local and foreign travellers.

Conducted dredging works at the river mouth to eliminate the formation of sand banks, thus ensuring a safe and smooth passage for fishing boats, especially during the monsoon season. We also participated in the cleaning-up and rehabilitation of the river by installing breakwaters and rubbish traps to control the river flow and reduce water pollution.

This is an MRCB endeavour aimed at helping the local community find alternative sources of income and ultimately, eradicate poverty. First, we will organise business motivation and communication workshops to help participants identify a potential business activity. Next on, we will connect them with the relevant governmental agencies for assistance, including funding, development and marketing. To achieve these, MRCB is working closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Fisheries Department, among others. |
